CAUSEDIRECT PRIVACY POLICY

Privacy and security of donor information is of vital importance to Causedirect Sàrl ("Causedirect").In this Privacy Policy, we describe how Causedirect processes personal information from donors on its website (the "Platform"). We will always process personal information:• Confidentially;• Only for the purposes described in the statements we make on our Platform;• Safely; and• Lawfully, and always in accordance with Swiss data protection regulations.

Unless otherwise defined, capitalized terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meaning as in the Donor Terms of Use, found here.

Who is Causedirect?

Causedirect is a limited liability company that is incorporated in Geneva, Switzerland. When we use the words "we" or "our", we mean Causedirect.

When does this Privacy Policy apply?

This Privacy Policy applies when we process personal information collected from people worldwide. We process your personal data and information if you choose to create an account with us. As such, by registering on-line with Causedirect, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.

Why Register?

You are able to donate through the Platform without registering with Causedirect. However, tax certifications or other evidence of your charitable donation cannot be issued unless you are registered with Causedirect.

What is your personal data?

Your personal data is the information that is required for you to register on the Platform, such as your first and last name, e-mail address, date of birth, gender, and any other information you choose to provide, such as your telephone number, postal address.You can access and correct most of your personal data stored by Causedirect by logging into your account.

Featured Charity and Corporation pages

Featured Charities Pages are public, used to share information about the Featured Charity and their charitable projects, or discuss various topics of interest. Because Featured Charities Pages are public, the information you share on these pages is public information. Some Featured Charities Pages and Corporation Pages contain content that comes directly from the Featured Charity or Corporation. Featured Charities or Corporations can do this through online plug-ins. Because this content comes directly from the Featured Charity or Corporation, that Featured Charity or Corporation may be able to collect information about you, just like any website.Featured Charity Page or Corporation Page administrators may have access to insights data, which will tell them generally about the people that visit their pages (as opposed to information about specific people).

Other information we receive about you

We also receive other information about you, such as data from the computer, mobile phone or other device you use to access the Platform, including when multiple donors log in from the same device. This may include your IP address and other information about things like your internet service, location, the type (including identifiers) of browser you use, or the pages you visit. We also receive data through cookies. This may include the date and time you visit the site; the web address, or URL, you're on; technical information about the IP address, browser and the operating system you use; and, if you are logged in to the Platform, your log-in name.

Purpose of use

When you make a donation through the Platform, you grant us permission to access your donation records at any time and to use the information you provide to process your donation. Unless you request that your donation and message (if any) be anonymous, upon transmitting your donation we will make available to your selected Featured Charity online reports identifying, where available, the name, address, e-mail and transaction accounting details of the donation. You may choose to remain anonymous when you make a donation.

Communications with other parties

We will not sell your personal data to anyone, nor will we communicate them to persons or organizations unrelated to us, without your consent.We may, however, share your name, address, e-mail and transaction accounting details with non-profit organizations administering giving events in which you participate. If you choose to make your advisement anonymously, we will share only the donation amount with your selected Featured Charity

Transfer Abroad

Our operations are based in Switzerland and our data is held on servers located in Switzerland. However, while Causedirect does not purposefully submit information outside of Switzerland, when you choose to make a donation, this donation will go directly to your chosen Featured Charity or a cause featured by a Corporation, which may or may not be based in Switzerland. As such, please be aware that it will be the privacy policy of the Featured Charity or Corporation that you donate to that will apply to the information submitted to the Featured Charity or Corporation, and we urge you to review these policies with your Featured Charities or Corporation of choice. Causedirect does not accept any responsibility or liability for the use of data by Featured Charities or Corporations

Safety and Security

We do our best to keep your information secure. We do our best to make sure that your personal data is securely stored and to protect your personal information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We try to keep the Platform bug-free and safe, but can't make guarantees about any part of our services or products.

Storage of Data

We store data for as long as it is necessary to provide products and services to you and the Featured Charities, including those described above. Typically, information associated with your account will be retained for three years from the date your account is deleted for financial reporting purposes.

Cookies, pixels and other system technologies

Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored on your computer, mobile phone or other device. Pixels are small blocks of code on web-pages that do things like allow another server to measure viewing of a webpage and often are used in connection with cookies. Causedirect uses technologies like cookies, pixels, and local storage (like on your browser or device, which is similar to a cookie but holds more information).We use these technologies to do things like:• make the Platform faster or easier to use;• enable features and store information about you (including on your device or in your browser cache) and your use of the Platform;• monitor and understand the use of our services;• to protect you, others and Causedirect.For example, we may use them to know you are logged in to the Platform, to help you use social plug-ins and share buttons.Cookies and things like local storage help make the Platform work, like allowing pages to load faster because certain content is stored on your browser or by helping us authenticate you to deliver your personalized content.We suggest you refer to your browser or device's help material to learn what controls you can use to remove or block cookies or other similar technologies or block or remove other data stored on your computer or device (such as by using the various settings in your browser). If you do this, it may affect your ability to use the Platform or other websites and apps.

Responding to legal requests and preventing harm

Causedirect may access, preserve and share your information in response to a legal request (like a search warrant or court order) if we have a good faith belief that the law requires us to do so. We may also access, preserve and share information when we have a good faith belief it is necessary to: detect, prevent and address fraud and other illegal activity; to protect ourselves, you and others, including as part of investigations; and to prevent death or imminent bodily harm. Information we receive about you, including financial transaction data related to the donations made through the Platform, may be accessed, processed and retained for an extended period of time when it is the subject of a legal request or obligation, governmental investigation, or investigations concerning possible violations of our terms or policies, or otherwise to prevent harm. We also may retain information from accounts disabled for violations of our terms for at least three years to prevent repeat abuse or other violations of our terms.Service ProvidersCausedirect gives your information to the people and companies that help us provide, understand and improve the services we offer. For example, we may use outside vendors to help host our website, serve photos and videos, process payments, analyze data, conduct and publish research or provide search results. In some cases we may provide the service jointly with another company. In all of these cases our partners must agree to only use your information consistent with the agreement we enter into with them, as well as this Privacy Policy.

Notice of Changes

If we make changes to this Privacy Policy we will notify you, as appropriate under the circumstances, for example by publication on the Causedirect home page.

Deleting your account

If you want to stop using your account, you can delete it, meaning that your profile is permanently deleted from the Platform. It typically takes about one month to delete an account, but some information may remain in backup copies and logs for up to 90 days, save for financial transaction data, which is typically kept for three years for financial accounting purposes. You should only delete your account if you are sure you never want to use it again. You can delete your account by simply editing your page and by clicking on "cancel account" at the bottom of your page.
